Dry stone buildings, erected quickly by the vine growers, the cadoles served to protect them from the heat of the sun, and from the rigours of winter. Having resisted the passage of time, they have become objects of curiosity.
Set off to discover these huts with ancestral appeal which are only found in the Barséquanais region!
Two circular walks through the vines
- In Courteron, on a path with 12 stops, amongst others you can see "la Merveille" (The Wonder) with its low windbreak wall, then “pain de sucre” (sugarloaf), so called because of its height. “La grosse rave” (The large turnip) seems quite bourgeois, and “la grande loge communale” (The large communal hut) can accommodate a whole group of walkers!
10 km circuit
- The circuit starts in the heart of Les Riceys, then continues to the vineyards. Walkers can then enjoy a game of comparing the cadoles. In all walkers visit 12 cadoles on a circular itinerary that wends its way between the vineyards and the forest while affording superb panoramic views of the hillsides.
7, 14.5 and 23 km circuits.
