Open since October 2004, this private museum is devoted to the work of a single artist: Angelo Di Marco, a specialist in the illustration of miscellaneous news items in the French press.
Angelo di Marco is the artist who gave credibility to press cartoons, both in sentimental serial stories and in the most atrocious short articles. His style approaching photography is his most identifiable feature. Dozens of French titles called on his services, like Détective, le Figaro Magazine, l’Huma Dimanche, Charlie Hebdo…
His roots in the reality of the years from 1955-1990 provide a remarkable commentary on forty years of news, mainly miscellaneous news items but also covering politics, cartoon strips, portraits, humour and music: the memory of a generation.
The opening of the Di Marco museum consecrates a style, an artist, and the story of a friendship based on jazz between the artist and André Antoine, the owner of the premises. And music – the other constant – is evoked everywhere. Jazz lovers will also find it moving.*
