Start: Pâlis Length: 30 km 2 hours Elevation gain: 229 m, Difficulty: Easy Start: Pâlis The manor house of Pâlis did not boast exceptional architecture, but old plans show that it occupied a large site adjoining the church and partly within the old cemetery. Nicolas Desmaret, the last lord of Pâlis, rebuilt the manor house in the 17th-century architectural style. After passing through several hands, the manor house site now belongs to the Art, Culture and Communication association. Km 5: Villadin The Land of Jugs. Villadin is known in the region as the Land of Jugs, and its inhabitants cheerfully bear the nickname "Jugs." The presence of clay deposits of varying qualities in the area allowed for the development of a significant pottery industry that continued until 1885. The first known potter was Jacquin, who in 1399-1400 delivered glazed pots and terracotta pipes to the Bishop of Troyes at his castle in Aix-en-Othe to supply his fountain. In the mid-16th century, there were 9 potters in Villadin, and by 1788, there were 20. In 1992, a kiln dating from the reign of Henry IV was discovered in the center of the village. Km 10: Saint Lupien Km 15: Marcilly-le-Hayer The Aube department has a significant concentration of megaliths, mainly located in the northwestern part of the department, the Nogentais region. Menhirs, dolmens, and polishing stones—all these stones bear witness to a distant past, the Late Neolithic period (2500 to 2000 BC). The Church of Planty is dedicated to St. Felix of Nosle, bishop and martyr of Naples in 256. It is laid out in the form of two well-oriented rectangles, with a total length of 28 meters. Rebuilt in the 17th and 18th centuries using reused materials, it is unadorned and lacks any particular style. Discover the patron saint of the parish, wearing an antique mitre, depicted above the small door on the north side. This wooden work, dating from the 15th century, is a naive representation.
