Its stone apse and transept date from the 16th century, while the brick nave, a material in vogue in the 19th century, was rebuilt between 1850 and 1855.
The church's 16th-century stained glass windows, mostly in the choir and transept and a few in the former nave, have been preserved and classified as historic monuments since 1908.
The iconography reflects the church's patronage and is dedicated to the Virgin Mary.

The church contains a polychromed limestone sculpture of Saint Barbara, the daughter of a wealthy magistrate who had her tortured and had her head cut off in the 3rd century for converting to Christianity. The clarity of the composition, the richness of the colors, and the finesse of the sculpture - to be observed in the details of her face and the lightness of her clothing, are all details that this work offers to contemplate.

Classified as a historic monument in 1984, it was presented at the exhibition "Le Beau XVIe siècle: chefs d'œuvre de la sculpture en Champagne", held in the Saint-Jean-au-Marché church in Troyes.
