Originally from Lille and now based in Troyes, in the heart of the historic center of Champagne, PILIP is a multifaceted French artist: painter, draftsman, sculptor. Self-taught, he has been building a teeming universe for over ten years, at the crossroads of expressionism, art brut, and free figuration. His works, profoundly human, are inhabited. Without models or artifice, PILIP creates by instinct. His characters, often funny, sometimes strange, emerge from an inner world rich in contrasts and colors. The line is free, lively, sincere. Humor surfaces in each canvas, sculpture, or drawing—a knowing, never cynical humor. Paintings, inks, pastels, or sculptures, on canvas, paper, or panel... the material is a pretext for expression. PILIP plays with techniques, like a child plays with their dreams. His works have been acclaimed in Paris and La Rochelle, but it is above all in the encounter with the public that his work takes on its full meaning. Since 2014, he has exhibited regularly throughout France – in the Grand Est region, the Paris region, the Atlantic coast, and elsewhere. And for those who push open the door to his studio in Troyes, an intimate gallery opens, timeless, populated by endearing and unique figures.
