Crane Festival: Performance of ‘The Yellow-Bellied Bell Ringer’

On the occasion of the Crane and Migration Festival, the company "Demain il fera jour" presents a new creation: The Yellow-Bellied Toad, or "Democracy to the Rescue of the Living." A small rural community led by a group of scientists attempts to save a tiny toad, the Yellow-Bellied Toad. This amphibian has a singular habit: it reproduces in the ruts left by forestry machinery. Here it is, propelled, in spite of itself, into the middle of human controversies. Loggers, machine operators, ONF agents, hunters, naturalists, walkers, mountain bikers, scientists and experts lean, perplexed, over the rut... All must undertake a genuine revolution to create peaceful democratic spaces that allow all points of view to coexist. The show is created around the preservation of the Yellow-bellied Toad, a small toad (3.5 to 5.5 cm) well-known in Argonne, which has taken to breeding in the ruts left by forestry equipment. This habit largely puts it on the verge of extinction and throws it into the middle of often contradictory human interactions. Foresters, hikers, scientists, ONF agents, hunters, etc. are the actors in a small local drama.
