This magnificent mansion, built entirely in the Champagne style, was built in 1553, after the fire of Troyes (1524).

Its large Renaissance-style windows are adorned with wrought ironwork. Adjacent to the building, the well, destroyed in 1846, has been rebuilt: its curbstone comes from the courtyard of the nearby Palais de Justice. The inner courtyard features an interesting sundial.

Originally called Hôtel de la Chèvre, it was renamed by the locals because - you guessed it - the corner niche of its facades has contained a statue of the patriarch Moses since 1605. The original disappeared during the French Revolution, but a copy was made in 2001 by Trojan sculptor Christophe Thomas, after the building had been restored.
