JEP: Discover Vendeuvre Castle through the centuries

Come and discover the Vendeuvre-sur-Barse castle, nestled at the source of the Barse River. Bearing witness to a rich history, it preserves remarkable features dating from the 12th and 17th centuries.

Come and discover the Château de Vendeuvre-sur-Barse, nestled at the source of the Barse River. Bearing witness to a rich history, it retains remarkable elements dating from the 12th and 17th centuries and today belongs to the Department and the Commune. Built on the source of the Barse River, the first stones of the Château de Vendeuvre-sur-Barse were laid in the 12th century. Of its original appearance, the building retains only a few traces, since its architecture underwent numerous modifications over the centuries, until the 19th century, when Guillaume Gabriel Pavée de Vendeuvre redesigned it and gave it its current appearance. Many illustrious people have stayed there, such as the Luxembourg family, governors of Champagne, and even Louis XIII. The castle has been listed as a Historic Monument since 1981. Activities for children will be available on site. Visits to the medieval part every 30 minutes in some rooms of the castle, in groups of 10 people maximum. You will also have access to the orangery and the dovecote. #JEP2025
