A monumental 12.3-metre-high arch made of wood and steel spans the return canal.
of the Seine reservoir lake (Lac d'Orient).
In its center, a steel needle, 8 meters long, falls vertically. Its tip touches the eddies.
Water is at the heart of Klaus Rinke's work, as it is one of the elements of Gaston Bachelard's poetic meditation (L'eau et les rêves, 1942).

Produced in 1986, this work was commissioned by the public. The Regional Council of Champagne-Ardenne had then wished to pay homage to the philosopher through four monumental sculptures evoking the four elements that were dear to him.
