The sober architecture of the 13th-century choir and transept, as well as the 16th-century nave, are covered with a beautiful wooden hoop. The limestone and wood, intimately linked, give the treasure of this church – the rood screen – all its importance. Once polychromed, this famous rood screen, which completely encloses the choir, is remarkably fine and astonishingly rich in decoration. A true book of instruction and mediation for the use of pilgrims in the Middle Ages. This is the largest and richest surviving wooden rood screen in France.
