In the seal! From the banks of the Seine to the shores of the lake, from the Regional Natural Park of the Orient Forest to the hillsides of Champagne, take advantage of the great outdoors to fill up on oxygen! Greenways, roads, paths, under the sun or in the shade of the trees, pedal at your own pace, let yourself go with the changing landscapes…
So, are you ready to pedal in the Aube? Discover our selection of cycling tours.

Head for the greenways!

The Greenway of the Great Lakes Seine and Aube joins Troyes to the lakes of the Orient Forest. You will cross changing landscapes: the plains of Champagne, the dykes of Lake Amance, the Orient Forest… Since 2021, the greenway has been extended to allow you to cycle all the way around the Orient lake to the beaches of Lusigny, Mesnil-St-Père and Géraudot. This leaves you with a wide choice for your picnic spot. This is a must for Troyens who go to the green lung of the department at the weekend to get some fresh air!

To the north you can follow the greenway of the Haute-Seine canal. Over a distance of about forty kilometres, you can follow the canal in a shady, bucolic atmosphere where you will come across swans, ducks, moorhens and some other cyclists. These completely safe routes allow you to enjoy long walks with your family in complete peace of mind.

Essoyes, Renoir's village

Cycling tours in Renoir country

For art and history buffs and lovers of fine bubbles, Essoyes is the place to go. This village on the Côte des Bar, which has been awarded the “Petite Cité de Caractère” label, was home to the famous impressionist painter Pierre-Auguste Renoir, who used to come and enjoy his family home, the Rosé des Riceys, and above all the peace and quiet of the surrounding countryside.

From Essoyes, you will go to the viewpoint of Noë-les-Mallets, a singular panorama which shows the beauty of the vineyards of the Côte des Bar.

Between vineyards and cultural heritage

Starting from the former Royal Crystal Factory in Bayel, you can also follow in the footsteps of the Great Men of Champagne by cycling between different historical sites: the Cistercian Abbey of Clairvaux, founded by Saint Bernard, and the Charles de Gaulle Memorial, among others, are to be discovered in a 53km journey.

Mountain bike circuit of the Balcon de l’Armance

From the Circular Hall (unique in Europe!) of Ervy-le-Châtel, plunge into the medieval era by pedalling through the narrow streets that will lead you to the Armance Valley: an unobstructed view to wait for on a clear horizon. The return journey to the little town of character will take you along wooded paths from which you will enjoy the shade and coolness of the trees: the perfect circuit for an invigorating nature break.

Mountain bike circuit of Puisotin

Unbeatable views, changing settings, in the shade of the trees or under the sun warming the plain, this route offers you generous curves with pleasant views of nature or of the communes nestling in the heart of the Valley. In particular, you will discover one of the 20 remarkable trees of the Valley: the Pied Cornier tree, an oak tree over 500 years old with a trunk almost 6 metres high and 1.85 metres in diameter.
