Aube, with its huge Orient Forest Natural Regional Park, is an oasis of green and blue, to be experienced with great enthusiasm. Water is everywhere: And why is that? it’s in this country of streams and pools that three great artificial lakes were built in the 1970s: Orient lake, Temple lake and Amance lake
Intended to regulate the flow of the Seine and the Aube, they fit in perfectly with the environment and have become spaces that encourage getting away from it all and a whole range of experiences. They are also an invitation to get to know and preserve the fauna and flora. Welcome to Great Lakes Country which combines leisure, nature and heritage!

Outdoor activities
Vélovoie track of Lakes
In the heart of the Orient Forest Natural Regional Park, the “Vélovoie” cycle track is the ideal opportunity for nature lovers, families or sports enthusiasts to discover Aube in a different way, taking advantage of each season’s charms.
A 42 kilometre route among fields, forests and lakes : As you leave Troyes, the Vélovoie track follows the towpath that runs alongside the return flow canal from the sOrient Forest lakes.
The route continues through the communes of Lusigny sur Barse and Géraudot and their respective beaches.For the rest of the route, it follows the lakeside dykes and provides an ideal view of the three lakes:>Orient lake, Temple lake and Amance lake.
Walks
Discover Aube throught many walks all around the territory.
And to mix culture and sport, the Templars walk allows you to discover the history of Hugues de Payns and the Knights Templar.
Water sports
The three beaches of Mesnil-Saint-Père, Géraudot and Lusigny-sur-Barse invite you to lazing and to bath at the heart of Orient Forest Natural Regional Park.
From march to november the Orient lake is the perfect place for water sports and activities. The fishing is also very profitable.
New in 2016: An outdoor laser-game !
Near to Lusigny-sur-Barse beach, you’ll enjoy an outdoor lasergame from april to october! At the middle of the forest, let you seduce by this funny activity for children and adults from 6 years old.
Adventure park “Grimpobranches”
With family or friends come and discover new sensations between heaven and earth. 5 courses and more than 70 stages are waiting for you : Giant zip lines, rope bridges…
Ride on lakes with the Bateau Ivre
Thanks to the Bateau Ivre, enjoy a guided tour, commentary via a microphone in real time, lasting 1 or 2 hours in a 55 seat, panoramic boat.
Explore the Orient Lake, the region’s history, how the lakes work, the consequences for the fauna and flora. Meal on-board available.

Fauna space of Orient Forest
In the Fauna space of Orient Forest, listen, watch and be surprised by the elk, auroch, deer and roe deer during a sensory tour in the heart of the forest. Apart from deer, roe deer and other wild boar already here, new species of animal which formerly inhabited our forests have made their appearance : Aurochs, “Tarpan” horses and European elk. From the infrastructure point of view, you will note the development of observation and discovery points suitable for a wide range of people, for example:
– A discovery path accessible to all, including people with disabilities, called “Path of the Senses”.
– Two observatories suitable for people with reduced mobility.
Ornithological observatory
Aube is a very rich department from the ornithological point of view. The Orient Forest Natural Regional Park have over time become a temple to birds and constitute one of the richest ornithological sites in France.
Seen from the sky, the 5,000 ha of large lakes offer migratory birds immense aquatic opportunities which is perfect for them and provides them with a haven of peace.
Between permanent residents and migratory birds, 300 different species have been seen to date.

Patrimoine et culture sur les Grands Lacs
Ecomusée of the Orient Forest
In the North-East of the Orient Forest Natural Regional Park, the Ecomusée of the Orient Forest is three sites dedicated to the memory of the agricultural life of the region between 1850 and 1950.
Guardian of local memory and tradition, the Orient Forest Eco-museum was created in order to offer local people as well as visitors to the Regional natural park, a centre where they could be provided with information and given an opportunity for reflection about the rich local heritage.
The windmill of Dosches
The windmill site is a very nice walk where you can see the windmill (the same type that existed in the 18th century), a 15th century barn, a bakery with its bread oven, as well as two peaceful gardens which will invite you to dream among its medicinal herbs and plants. You may even watch how we make flour if there is enough wind for the windmill to turn. Four times a year, during one of our big celebrations, you will meet three volunteer bakers in action making the bread as they did in the past as well as making crêpes with the flour ground by the windmill.
Amance pottery
Come and discover the artisanal manufacture of pottery, tiles and tiles at the Amance pottery. Far away of industrial production, the Amance pottery try to perpetuate an artisanal tradition and quality.
Road of flavours and knowledges
A road to discover a territory, mens and knowledges… The Road of Flavors and Knowledges around the Orient Forest propose an authentic discovery of Aube, althrought meetings with productors, artists and artisans. Cross the Orient Forest Natural Regional Park to enjoy flavors and natural wealth !
