Exposition Sculptures, Peintures et Dessins de Eugène Van Lamsweerde |
From April 6 to May 5, 2024 at the Bateau-Lavoir and the Pavillon Henri IV in Nogent-sur-Seine. The town of Nogent-sur-Seine invites Eugène Van Lamsweerde, Dutch painter and sculptor, who has lived for a long time with his family between Romilly and Nogent, to take over several places in the town: at the Henri IV pavilion from Wednesday to Sunday from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and at the Bateau-Lavoir from Tuesday to Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. then from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. His protean work spans six decades. The exhibition presents a tiny part of it. The scenography, led by Thomas Chevalier, imagines clever stratagems so that the works presented stand out by interacting with their environment. Without worrying about the chronology, the idea is to reflect the diversity of the artist's research so that the visitor has an overview of the different directions that guided his work. Despite the monumentality of a large part of Eugène's work, it is the expression of a fragility, of a transience which seems to characterize and humanize his work, although such qualifiers are difficult to associate with the expressionist character. and decidedly contrasting with many of his acrylics on canvas.
