Guided tour of the Church of Saint-Jacques-le-Majeur in Maraye-en-Othe, the last church dating from the Ancien Régime. Built at the end of the 18th century in a neoclassical style recognizable by its columns and Ionic capitals, among other features, it was inspired by the Church of Saint-Philippe-du-Roule in Paris, not only for its style but especially for its orientation. Indeed, both churches share the unusual characteristic of having their churchyard facing east rather than west. Since 2023, the municipality has undertaken restoration work with the support of the Heritage Foundation and its fundraising efforts to save this heritage site.
