So, what’s the plan? A bit of windsurfing with a jet-ski supplement, for a bit of adrenalin? Fancy a spot of paddleboarding on the lakes, just to take in the scenery? Take to the skies aboard a hydro-ULM? Or a cruise with a meal on board (a bit of relaxation never did anyone any harm)?
Here’s what we’re going to do: we’ll list all the water sports you can enjoy in the Aube region, on the lakes of the Forêt d’Orient, and you can choose.
We suggest, you decide.

Rent a boat in Dienville
Fancy playing captain without having to get a licence?
At Batel Plaisance, it’s possible! Hire a motorboat (with or without a licence – we promise we won’t check your sailing CV) and set off to cruise the peaceful waters of Lake Amance. An hour? Two? The whole afternoon? You’re the boss on board!
And just as a wise captain never sails without stopping, why not take the opportunity to drop anchor at Île aux Oiseaux or Île aux Carpes. Yes, two real islands! Complete with jetties and picnic tables, so you can enjoy a tasty snack with your feet (almost) in the water.
⚓ Spoiler alert: the boats are in high demand… So make sure you book in advance to avoid having to swim

Canoeing, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding for exploring the calm waters of the lakes
A few reminders: in canoeing and kayaking, you sit in a boat. You can paddle, alone or in pairs, all wrapped up in your lifejacket. On a paddle, it’s different: you’re alone and balanced on a board. That’s it, explanations done!
There are plenty of companies around Lake d’Orient offering equipment hire, allowing you to explore the ‘Champagne bayou’ and the lake’s biodiversity either on your own or on a guided tour. It’s a dream come true!

Yachting, windsurfing, catamaran sailing: water sports and a break from the everyday
Everyone knows what windsurfing is? It’s a board with a sail attached to a mast, allowing you to steer by leaning to one side or the other. What about the catamaran, then? It’s a sailing boat mounted on two hulls, ideal for sharing time with family and friends.
Interested in water sports? Just the thing, as several clubs and associations in the Aube region offer a wide choice of water sports ! You can rent the necessary equipment or bring your own boat during sailing periods !

Kitesurfing, a water sports activity for thrill-seekers
That’s right ! Paddleboarding and windsurfing were more or less okay, but kitesurfing… Yes, everyone knows the name, but we don’t really know what it is… Let’s put an end to the suspense. You’ll love it !
Kitesurfing is a water sport that combines surfing and kite flying. It involves a sail, a board and a control bar. The principle ? Use the force of the wind to move across the water at high speed: thrills guaranteed !
Sport, entertainment, adrenaline: this water sport is perfect for adventurers looking for a thrill! Beware, however, as this sport requires a mastery of navigation, physical strength and good coordination. Let’s avoid accidents !
Interested ? Two organisations, AWA and Gliss’Orient, bring together water sports enthusiasts on the lakes of the Aube. There are no introductory sessions for beginners.
