Enfant couché sur des feuilles d'automne

Let’s be honest, autumn is undoubtedly one of the best times of year to visit us. Just an hour and a half from Paris, the Aube region is decked out in red and gold. The vineyards are changing colour, as are the forests, and it’s honestly hard to tear yourself away from the excellent restaurants.

Whether you’re looking to unwind, enjoy some good food or revamp your wardrobe, we’ve got a few great excuses to make the weekend last a bit longer.

1. Troyes: Chill and historic cobbled streets

The centre of Troyes is perfect for a leisurely, aimless stroll through its cobbled streets lined with traditional half-timbered houses. The atmosphere is peaceful, and the narrow streets take you back in time. It’s just like being in a film of *The Three Musketeers*!

And above all, it’s the perfect time to update your wardrobe for winter: factory outlets are bringing out their autumn/winter collections at bargain prices.

2. The Champagne vineyards at ‘Golden Hour’

In autumn, the hillsides of the Côte des Bar turn golden and crimson. It’s the perfect time to take the back roads, stroll through the vineyards and enjoy the last light of the day.

The tour naturally ends at a winemaker’s. Here, we take the time to chat, tour the cellar, taste the wines… and perhaps leave with a few bottles of bubbly for the festive season.

3. The Great Lakes of the Orient Forest: The Wild Break

Right, let’s forget about the swimsuit and sun cream combo. In autumn, the Forêt d’Orient Regional Nature Park takes on a completely different look. The common cranes return, the forests burst into flamboyant colours and the great lakes regain their tranquillity. Whether cycling along the greenway, walking along the trails or tucked away in a wildlife observatory, this is the perfect time to enjoy nature to the full. And if you visit at the right time of year, listen out: the bellowing of the stags echoes through the woods.

4. Nigloland: Thrills and pumpkins

In autumn, Nigloland gets a makeover: thousands of pumpkins, skeletons, monsters and giant decorations take over the park for Nigloween. People come for the rides, but stay for the atmosphere and the shows that keep the day going well into the night. Thrills for the grown-ups, rides for the little ones: a brilliant excuse to take the whole family to the Aube.

5. Let’s eat! Comfort food on your plate

Let’s be honest: a successful weekend is also measured by the time spent at the table. And autumn is a brilliant time of year to enjoy some comforting dishes.

Creamy Chaource, grilled andouillette, cider from the Pays d’Othe, Champagne of course… But rather than giving you a list of the Aube region’s pantry staples, we’d rather send you to the places where they’re cooked. We’ve hand-picked some restaurants that are committed to working with local producers.
